If you die without a will or trust, your assets will be distributed according to state intestacy laws, which may not align with your wishes. Verbal wishes and improperly executed documents are not going to be enforceable in court as a general rule. Estates without a valid Will or trust are more likely to involve conflict and expensive, drawn out court proceedings.
