What is an irrevocable trust?

An irrevocable trust is a trust that cannot be easily modified or revoked. No one should prepare an irrevocable trust without the help of an experienced estate planning attorney because there can be serious consequences related to Medicaid and access/control over property. It is always best to involve a CPA when considering irrevocable trusts as well as they are taxed differently than revocable trusts.
